Saccharomyces boulardii are yeasts (fungi). Saccharomyces boulardii render a variety of preventative and therapeutic benefits to the body planet. Yet should this or another yeast colony grow too large, they can quickly become a burden to the body due to their dietary needs (primarily refined sugars) and waste products. Saccharomyces boulardii are known to enhance IgA—the antibody immunoglobulin focused on skin and mucosal membrane immunity. This is likely why Saccharomyces boulardii helps clear skin disorders. Saccharomyces boulardii also help control diarrhea, and have been shown to be helpful in Crohn’s Disease and irritable bowel issues. S. boulardii have been shown to be useful in combating cholera bacteria (Vibrio cholerae) as well.

The research has shown that under certain conditions, S. boulardii:

v      Decrease infectious Entameba histolytica (intestinal)

v      Inhibit H. pylori

v      Decrease intestinal permeability

v      Decrease diarrhea infections

v      Stimulate T-cells as needed

v      Decrease C-reactive protein

v      Decrease beta-glucoronidase enzyme (associated with colon cancer)

v      Inhibit E. coli

v      Reduce ulcerative colitis

v      Reduce symptoms of Crohn’s disease

v      Reduce Clostridium difficile

v     Decrease parathyroid hormone—marker for bone loss
